NOUV / NV-088
This collection explores the relationship between structure, material, and openness in contemporary design. Under the concept of “Engineered Transparency,” the work highlights how construction systems can become an aesthetic language that parallels function. Every joint, bolt, and mechanical element is intentionally exposed, revealing the logic and process behind its assembly. Crafted from stainless steel as the primary material, the collection embraces the metal’s precision, reflectivity, and durability. The steel serves not only as the structural backbone but also as a medium to express the rational beauty of industrial design. The openness of each connection creates a visual rhythm that contrasts with the smoothness of the table surfaces and seats, balancing technical complexity with formal simplicity.
The work positions design as a dialogue between technique and expression, between manufacturing and human sensibility. It is not merely a utilitarian object but a study of material honesty and design integrity—a reflection on how strength and aesthetics can emerge from the same principle. Ultimately, it invites the audience to reconsider the idea of transparency in design—not simply as visual openness, but as an attitude of revealing structure and process as an integral part of beauty itself.
NOUV WERK
Founded in 2016, NOUV is an Indonesian design studio that began as a platform for personal expression through furniture making. Drawing inspiration from everyday inanimate forms, the studio reinterprets them into designs that are both minimal and functional. Exploring the coexistence of craftsmanship and technology, NOUV focuses on furniture and interiors that merge precise construction with refined materials. By reimagining traditional craftsmanship through a contemporary lens, the studio pursues a balance of beauty and usability—conveying the cultural essence of Indonesia in a new, globally resonant form.
