EXTENSION

During the exhibition period, a variety of Extension Events will take place not only at the main venue but also at various locations throughout the city.

Starting this year, as part of our ongoing activities beyond the exhibition period, spin-off projects will be organized in collaboration with our SUPPORTERS who share the vision of DESIGNTIDE TOKYO. These projects will feature solo and group exhibitions, as well as sales and representation of works by designers who participated in the Main Exhibition. Through these initiatives, we aim to create new opportunities to connect designers with society, businesses, and the market.

Traces of Life ——
The forms of wood shaped by nature ——

2025.12.11 (Thu) 〜 2026.01.27 (Tue)

This exhibition, created by Karimoku Furniture in collaboration with creative director and designer Shizuka Tatsuno, is inspired by her first experience of stepping into a forest where the trees grow, as well as by a shared resonance with Karimoku Furniture’s long-standing approach to engaging with the life of wood.

Reflecting on the time each tree has lived, the exhibition reframes insect trails, knots, bends, and discoloration not as flaws, but as memories — traces of its interactions with nature and other living beings.

The exhibition subtly draws out the individuality and beauty within these traces through Tatsuno’s design perspective, in collaboration with Karimoku Furniture.
