Completion Time series by Doji Fetish

This furniture preserves physical traces ─ such as handprints and wrinkles ─ through shape memory.

During production, a liquid is poured between the fabric of the seat and the wooden structure. By pressing a hand or body against it as the material expands from within, the imprint of that moment becomes permanently embedded. When someone actually sits on it, the traces stretch beneath the body and temporarily change shape, but once they stand up, it slowly returns to its original form.

Inspired by the smooth tactile experience of devices like the iPhone ─ which blurs the boundary between self and others ─ I use the sofa, a familiar piece of furniture that supports the body in daily life, as a medium. These traces are both records of a body that may once have occupied the space and a tactile testimony to the analog physicality we have lost in our increasing intimacy with digital sensations.
