Atelier matic meets AKIUstone

Atelier matic has been creating works centered around the theme of "artificial and natural." This time, under the title ALL ABOUT ATELIER matic, they attempt to present their diverse body of work with a focus on the creative process behind each piece. Their portfolio includes works such as encapsulating stones, plants, and perfume bottles in acrylic, terrazzo pieces that create unique textures using minerals, and objects that form new shapes from materials like clay and paper. These works seamlessly navigate between the realms of nature and artificiality.

Additionally, Atelier matic has collaborated with creators from other fields, such as ceramic artists and plaster artisans, intertwining their knowledge and skills to produce new creations. They have also been regularly showcasing works using Akium stone, a precious stone from Sendai that is in danger of declining in popularity, with the aim of bringing it back into the spotlight. Please enjoy this collection that explores the new possibilities of materials, free from conventional boundaries.

Atelier matic

Since establishing themselves in 2012, Atelier matic have worked as spatial designers, handling store designs, exhibition and event venue planning, and display designs for show windows at places like PARCO and Tokyo Midtown. As artists, they have continued to create works that explore the fusion of natural and artificial elements, such as works encasing perfume bottles in acrylic, objects made from terrazzo consisting of minerals, and lighting created from stones in their natural form. Their work has been highly acclaimed and featured in exhibits such as the 'Isamu Noguchi: Discovering the Way' exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, collaborative displays and sales at agnès b., and the '1000 Vases' exhibition in Paris and Milan.
