FLOW - PAINTING -

FLOW

This project began with a question about the “scrap-and-build” approach, where many usable building materials are discarded while new materials continue to create spaces. Our focus is on one of the most common discarded materials: LGS (Light Gauge Steel). This initiative involves constructing spaces with the premise that they will eventually be dismantled, utilizing the purest materials to design spaces. It is a novel attempt to reuse and regenerate building materials after demolition, reconstructing them into furniture with minimal components. We are challenging the realization of a fluid material lifecycle without generating industrial waste.

-PAINTING-

“PAINTING” is one of the acts of restoration and represents the most primitive and everyday action undertaken to sustain the use of materials in the context of people, architecture, interiors, and objects. Through repeated experiments with applying layers of color to discarded light gauge framing materials, I am re-evaluating and redefining this most primitive and daily act of restoration. This practice not only proposes the possibility of continuing to use materials without disposal but also explores the aesthetics arising from the material's individuality and color.

DAISUKE YAMAMOTO

Daisuke Yamamoto, with a background in interior design and architecture, focuses his work on the relationship between objects and architectural environments. In 2022, he established Daisuke Yamamoto Design Studio, where he works with a comprehensive design approach that transcends traditional design boundaries. Through deep exploration of humanity, materials, technology, social environments, history, and aesthetics, he engages in experimental and conceptual rethinking. His work blurs the boundaries of functionality, pursuing design possibilities surrounding people, objects, and social environments.
